I wish I was young again to be in this India of today.
The India of today is brimming with such enthusiasm and hope as it navigates its way through the 21st century of multipolar world. India did start its journey as a part of Non-Aligned Movement by Nehru so as to distance itself from the polarizing effect of USSR and USA. The India then formed SAARC for regional cooperation among countries in Indian subcontinent.
The present and future, however, have a complete different path for India to take. As India leverages its demographic dividend of youthful and energetic countrymen, it also provides ample opportunity for creating enterprises and startups to cater to the needs of 7 billion people of the world.
I wish I was young again to be in this India of today.
While we rejoice at the success of OLA, SNAPDEAL, FLIPKART and OYO rooms, we also see tremendous opportunities for these firms growing their user base to APAC and African geographies to tap unfulfilled demand.
We see employers willing to recruit youngsters who left their job for a startup and may be experienced failure and are willing to join a 9 to 5 job again. This willingness is encouraging working class people to pursue their passion and make a mark and is providing a safety net in case they do not succeed in making it large.
This India is willing to sit up and take notice of issues like safety of women, net neutrality and freedom of diverse people and is not shy of casting her vote for the correct politician. This India is willing to debate and assign accountability of actions to people.
I wish I was young again for the India of the dreamers, strivers, achievers and leaders, the India that leads the charge of the light brigade, works for the betterment of the whole world and is the true maker of its own destiny.
The anthem calls citizens of India (Jan Gana Mana adhinayaka jayahe, bharat bhagya vidhata) and controlling the destiny of a country starts with controlling oneself's destiny. I see India as a young, confident and determined nation doing exactly that and it makes me wish I was young again.
